Confidentiality is very important in therapy. Building trust with Nada, your therapist, requires that whatever you share with her remains with her in confidence.
There are however four limits to confidentiality where Nada must report to the appropriate authorities if you share the following:
If you share with Nada that you are going to hurt yourself.
If you share with Nada that you are going to hurt someone else.
If you share with Nada that a child is experiencing abuse.
If you share that you have been abused by a licensed professional.
Also, if you are involved in a court case, it could be the case that Nada must legally provide her therapy notes if she is subpoenaed.
