Meet Deb Singh
Deb Singh is a Toronto-based activist, writer, and consultant who has spent over 20 years working in the gender-based violence sector. Her work has centered the voices of survivors, particularly within queer, trans, and two-spirit communities. Currently serving as the Director of Programs at the Ralph Thornton Community Centre in Riverdale, Deb brings her lived experience and leadership to community programming, equity advocacy, and systems transformation.
Deb’s approach is grounded in the Seven Grandfather Teachings and anti-oppression frameworks. She leads with integrity, empathy, and accountability, supporting others with a balance of kindness and radical honesty. Whether facilitating workshops, consulting with organizations, or speaking publicly, Deb offers a unique perspective shaped by decades of work in transformative justice, conflict resolution, and decolonization.
As a queer, polyamorous, Indo-Caribbean settler on Turtle Island, Deb speaks openly about her intersecting identities. She is committed to building inclusive spaces where joy, empowerment, and community care are prioritized. Her leadership is deeply relational, rooted in listening to communities and mirroring back their needs with clarity and compassion.
Deb believes womanhood is not defined by appearance or biology, but by strength, empathy, and equity. To her, being a woman means showing up as you are and owning your power, especially in a world that still fails to listen to women’s voices. She reminds us that women raise communities, drive change, and deserve to be centred in decision-making.
🎧 In this episode of Monthly Wednesdays with Nada, Deb shares her reflections on womanhood, justice, and reclaiming power, while offering a powerful call to action for systems change and community healing.
