The Same Trusted Care With a Clearer Identity

For many years, NJCCS has supported women and adolescent girls who are healing from the emotional, psychological, and relational impacts of sexual abuse and sexual assault.
This work is not new. The experience, care, and trauma-informed support have always been part of NJCCS.
What is changing is how we are presenting this specialized area of the practice.
Beyond Crisis™ is not a new clinic or a separate practice.
It is a specialized division of NJCCS created to make sexual trauma counselling more visible and easier for clients to recognize. It gives this important area of our practice a clearer name and a dedicated space.
Why Visibility Matters

Searching for counselling after sexual trauma can feel overwhelming. A survivor may already be carrying fear, shame, grief, confusion, anger, or emotional exhaustion. They may know they need support but feel unsure about where to begin.
They may also wonder whether a therapist will understand the ways sexual trauma can affect:
💙 Trust and relationships
💙 Self-esteem and identity
💙 Boundaries and intimacy
💙 Emotional well-being
💙 A person’s sense of safety
When specialized services are not clearly identified, it can be difficult for people to recognize whether the support is right for them. We created Beyond Crisis™ to make that support easier to find. We want women, teen girls, couples, and families to recognize that NJCCS offers a dedicated space for healing after sexual trauma.
Who Beyond Crisis™ Supports

Through Beyond Crisis™ , we provide specialized online counselling for adolescent girls ages 14 and older and women from all racial, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds.
We support individuals who have experienced:
• Sexual abuse
• Sexual assault
• Childhood sexual trauma
• Ongoing emotional or relational impacts connected to sexual trauma
We also provide couples and family counselling when trauma affects trust, communication, intimacy, emotional connection, or family relationships.
Sexual trauma does not affect everyone in the same way.
Some survivors may experience anxiety, sadness, anger, numbness, emotional overwhelm, or difficulty sleeping. Others may struggle with trust, self-esteem, boundaries, relationships, or feeling safe within themselves.
There is no single way that trauma is supposed to look.
There is also no one timeline for healing.
Counselling That Respects Your Pace

At Beyond Crisis™, our approach is trauma-informed, compassionate, client-centred, culturally responsive, and anti-oppressive. You will not be pressured to share anything before you are ready.
You are not expected to follow one fixed healing process.
Instead, counselling is guided by your comfort, boundaries, needs, and readiness.
Sessions may focus on:
💙 Understanding trauma responses
💙 Managing overwhelming emotions
💙 Reducing distress
💙 Recognizing and responding to triggers
💙 Strengthening coping strategies
💙 Rebuilding confidence and self-worth
💙 Developing a greater sense of safety
💙 Reconnecting with identity, voice, and hope
The goal is not to erase the past.
The goal is to help clients feel more grounded, supported, and connected to themselves as they move forward.
Support for Couples and Families

Sexual trauma can also affect the relationships surrounding a survivor. Partners may want to be supportive but feel unsure about what to say or do.
Parents, caregivers, and loved ones may experience sadness, fear, confusion, guilt, or helplessness.
Through couples counselling, we help partners understand how trauma may affect trust, communication, intimacy, and emotional connection.
The goal is not to “fix” the survivor. The goal is to strengthen the relationship as a space of safety, care, and mutual understanding.
Through family counselling, we help loved ones better understand trauma responses, improve communication, and offer support in ways that are informed, compassionate, and emotionally safe.
When appropriate and with the survivor’s consent, sessions may also include guided conversations that strengthen understanding, trust, and connection.
Beyond Crisis™ Is Not an Immediate Crisis Service

Beyond Crisis™ provides long-term sexual trauma counselling.
It is not an immediate crisis response service or a sexual assault centre.
Sexual assault centres and crisis services provide essential advocacy, crisis intervention, and practical support.
Beyond Crisis™ serves a different role. We support clients who want to understand and heal from the ongoing emotional, psychological, and relational effects of sexual trauma. A person may seek counselling shortly after an experience. They may also reach out months, years, or decades later.
There is no deadline for healing.
You do not need to be in immediate crisis to deserve support.
